Columbia Prime is the administrative capital of the Coalition of Western Republics. Columbia Prime is the most important world in the Columbia System. It is the only Coalition planet that is not self-sufficient, as most of its food comes from Columbia IV. Its climate is much colder than Earth's, and its polar regions are home to fields of frozen CO2 in the winter. An entire branch of the Coalition military, the Presidential Guard, is tasked with defending the planet.
Battle of Columbia Prime[]
The Battle of Columbia Prime was one of the hardest-fought naval confrontations in the entire Galactic War. Fought between the ships of the Athena Rebellion and an ad-hoc alliance of Coalition factions, the battle would end with the death of Supreme Director John Compton and the destruction of the entire Colubmia system. In addition to saving mankind from the threat of tabulator rule, the battle also gives some insight into the new threat that mankind faces. The following is a transcript of communication between the CWRS John D. Rockefeller of the Guard Navy and flagship of the combined fleet, and Sh41, the artificial planetoid leading the Athenian force. The crew of the Rockefeller was ordered to distract the enemy leadership for as long as possible, explaining the uncharacteristic patience of the Rockefeller's communications crew.
Destruction[]
At the height of the Second Galactic War, Columbia Prime fell under constant siege from the rogue Athena A.I. During this siege that would almost saw the end of the Coalition, Supreme Director John Compton took his own life. The Athena A.I. was unaware about Compton's suicide in which the Presidential Guard took the advantage in luring it and its fleet to Columbia, where they detonated multiple Merkwürdigliebe weapons that annihilated both, Athena and Columbia itself.
